The Uninhabitable Earth (My Reading Selection)

For my first quarter blogging assignment, I'm going to read The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells. It is a somewhat controversial book about climate change that has been criticized for being a bit "doomist" or far too extreme in its predictions about the effects of climate change. I am curious as to how true or false these criticisms may be and would like to judge for myself. I first learned about David Wallace-Wells after reading one of his articles in New York Magazine a couple years ago. That article explored the "most extreme" scenarios put forward by climate scientists as possible outcomes for life on Earth if we fail to meaningfully limit carbon emissions this century. That article was also criticized for being too "doomist," but I was drawn to David Wallace-Wells conversational writing style and ability to succinctly explain the complicated science behind the latest climate predictions.
